In juni 1915 zetten de Fransen alles op alles om Munster in te nemen vie de Fechtvallei.Het stadje Metzeral werd ten koste van duizenden levens ingenomen op 21 juni 1915. De weg naar Munster lag open. Plots bedacht het Franse opperbevel(rijkelijk laat) dat er ook nog Duitsers op Le Linge zaten. Generaal De Pouydraguin moest de aanval op Munster, dat binnen handbereik lag, staken, eerst moest Le Linge veroverd worden. De Duitsers echter hadden vanaf maart 1915 van Le Linge een oninneembare vestiging gemaakt.
Met “Deutsche grundlichkeit ” hadden ze stenen en betonnen loopgraven en bunkers gebouwd, ondergrondse schuilplaatsen en verbindingen. Ze hadden ook voorraden aangelegd en stonden in verbinding met andere stellingen.

Vandaag had ik tot doel Col de Linge, dit was voorbarig, dit heb ik niet bereikt.
Ik ga efkes moeten passen vandaag. Vlak en dalen gaat om te stappen maar bergop geraak ik niet meer vooruit. Ik moet om de 100 meter stoppen, precies iets in mijn onderrug dat uitstraalt naar mijn rechterbeen. Hopelijk wordt het weer beter. Ik voelde het deze morgen al heel snel.
Gelukkig was er bezoek van het thuisfront om de pijn te verzachten en de gedachten te verzetten. Ellen en Ruben, Achiel en Armand waren op terugweg van vakantie in Italië en verrasten me met een super deugd doend bezoek.
Ik had maar 10 km in 3 uur tijd deze morgen. Morgen stond er een minder zware tocht op het programma. Die proberen zonder rugzak en we zien wel
Wat er morgen moet gebeuren zal afwachten worden. Ik zal zeker proberen en als het niet mocht lukken schakel ik een rustdag in. Gelukkig is Trui ondertussen aangekomen.

Super mooie foto’s van de magnifieke vergezichten. Een aantal jaren terug waren we er op vakantie en logeerden we in Munster. Veel hoogtemeters … we duimen dat wat rust beterschap brengt en je je tocht kan verder zetten.
Oei, dat is mindergoed nieuws. De prestatie die je nu al hebt geleverd is super.
Wat je meegemaakt heb en gezien was al de moeite waard.
Ik zou me zeker niet forseren om de laatste km of die paar dagen nog af te haspelen. Maar ge ziet wel, misschien met wat rust en heel veel liefde, een goede verpleegster en masseuse lukt het nog wel.
